It’s now just five weeks until the MAD Blog Awards Ceremony and things are getting EXCITING.
Our finalists are getting kitted out with amazing new outfits from the likes of John Lewis, M&S and White Stuff. Fancy hotel rooms have been booked, jewellery has been arranged, hair stylists booked, and the final countdown has begun. Gift bags are being loaded.
But why should those finalists have all the fun?
Wouldn’t you like to enjoy a fancy evening in London, chatting with all your blogging friends, cheering the award winners and scoffing all the canapés? Or maybe you can’t get to London on September 30th but you would quite fancy one of those lovely event gift bags?
Of course you would.
That’s why we’ve come up with a rather special competition for our last giveaway of Golden Tickets for the MAD Blog Awards ceremony.
The Challenge
This week, we invited 10 of our finalists to undertake a very special challenge – and film themselves. In the interests of scientific discovery, we challenged our finalists to … lick their elbows.
Yes.
Lick their elbows. And film it.
And they said yes.
We love what this says about Britain’s top parent bloggers.
Now, you may think licking your elbow is impossible. Friends, it is not. Here’s video proof that – yes – you CAN lick your own elbow.
But can our finalists?
How to Enter
What we’d like you to do is guess how many of our 10 finalists will successfully manage to lick their elbows in their video clips. Simply leave a comment on this post with your guess or email it to us, and next week we will post the video evidence – and choose a winner at random from all the correct entries, or the person who comes closest in the event that nobody gets the write answer.
The Challengers
Of course, we wouldn’t just ask you to pick a number at random. Oh, no. We have performed thorough background checks on our finalists to assess their flexibility, athleticism and competitive instincts. This will allow you to make an informed judgement as to their like success. Ladies and gentlemen, our contenders are:
- Ruth, GeekMummy, enjoys regular weight-lifting (especially at bath-time), is expert at the 5 metre sprint for the TV remote, and achieves record times in the Waitrose steeple chase.
- Laura, LittleStuff, has a bronze medal in disco and Latin American dancing and captained the school rounders team. She did jog, once, but tripped over the dog and decided running was bad for her health.
- Alex, from All for Aleyna, describes herself as a ‘super roller boogie queen’, whatever THAT might be.
- Jane, Northern Mum, ran for Yorkshire in the 200 metres and she hardly ever mentions it (cough) but she recently ran a marathon.
- Kat, Housewife Confidential, is a seasoned competitor and boasts a cabinet full of rosettes. Returning from injury (caused by sitting on the sofa) Kat has undergone intense physiotherapy to reach this level of physical perfection.
- Nickie, I am Typecast, has a Tufty Road Safety badge, a cycling proficiency certificate, and is the slowest speed stacker in her house.
- Becky from Baby Budgeting is a keen athlete, and can skip 300 times without stopping. WOW.
- Tom, Diary of the Dad, once won four events in the school decathlon and has completed not one, but TWO fun runs.
- Heather, from Note from Lapland, once stood next to someone who ran a marathon
- Lisa, from the Mummy Whisperer, has failed to submit any moments of athletic glory. Draw your own conclusions from this.
Terms and Conditions
- Entries must be submitted by email or in the comments of this post.
- Licking in the vicinity of the elbow doesn’t count. The judge’s decision (Sally) will be final in deciding whether or not licking has been achieved.
- We will post the video footage of the challenge next week and winners will be announced on Monday, September 5th.
- Winners will be able to choose either a free ticket to attend the MAD Blog Awards ceremony, or receive a gift bag from the event.
- Entry is only open to UK-based bloggers. Winners attending the event will be required to cover their own travel expenses.

I think that none of the very worthy competitors will manage to actually lick their elbow, so my guess is 0.
Hmmm… I’ve just dislocated my shoulder trying (and obviously failed!)… I’m sure some of the finalists will be able to though, so I’m just going to go with my favourite number and say 3!
So funny, don’t know who I have my money on, would have loved to have been given the chance to play
….Good luck all who enter
My daughter can do it quite easily, myself…not so much! I am going to predict that 1 of the 10 have the same knack as my teenager! @wendymcd83
Can’t wait for the videos! I think 2. x
If i can go for the same answer as some one else i’ll go for 2 if not will have to be 4!
You can choose any number you want from 0-10 – doesn’t matter if someone else has chosen it!
The question is of course, which of our readers can do it?
I think one (and I know who
I have my cash on)
I know I can’t do it so ?? Let’s go for 1
Best of luck to all xx
I think maybe one of the ten, good luck to you all!
@notyetayummymum
I’ll guess 2!
Ok I’ve just creaked my neck trying to do that one so I’m guessing that not many managed it!!! I’m going to say only 2 out of the 10 managed it
I think it’ll be 4 who can! And I can’t do it
Good luck everyone
I hope at least one can do it (so I’ll go with 1).
I tried and failed!
I think 2!!!!!
I thought it was impossible to do but i’m going to guess that 1 can do it
I think 3 can do it!
I think 2 managed it. I certainly can’t!!! Lol! Good luck everyone!!
Okay, i am going to guess 2. I had no chance but my sister did it today. I’m still in shock from seeing it happen
I’m entering for a friend.
Ok I really can’t do it. But at a guess 1 could.
Sorry to you all but I don’t think any of you will manage it but I promise to laugh at you all trying.
My entry is 0 out of 10
@tiredmummyoftwo
I’ll go for 3 can do it
My wifes tried this having entered and watching her performance of trying herself I’m guessing noone will be able to!
I think 3 will manage. I couldn’t do it, but I’m the least flexible person in the world!
Just realised I’d missed this. Congrats to the winners.
I’m going to be optimistic here and have faith in these bloggers
My guess is 4 will be able to lick their elbows
